Compassion in Action

PERTIWI volunteers go out at least four evenings a week to feed the homeless at various locations in Kuala Lumpur. Nur Azmina’s role is slightly different as she helps restore the dignity of the indigent by providing a free haircutting service to those who need it.

Her “salon” comprises a stool standing on a few large garbage bags laid on the ground. An orderly line of customers, male and female, young and old, formed as she was setting up. She obviously knew most of them and kept up lighthearted banter with them as she worked.
